Hi, I’m Ashleigh, the face behind Miss Mila Co.

I’m from Newcastle, NSW, and I’ve had a love for animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up, our home was always filled with dogs, and to me they were never “just pets”—they were family. Whether we were out exploring, spending lazy afternoons together, or simply enjoying everyday life, there was always a dog by my side. That love has only grown over the years and extends to all animals, but dogs have always held a special place in my heart.

One of my earliest memories is watching my Nan sew coats for her own market stall. I was fascinated by the care and love she put into making something unique for every type of dog. At the time, I never imagined that one day I’d be sitting behind my own sewing machine creating handmade pieces for dogs all over Australia.

In August 2025, everything changed when I brought home my Border Collie, Millie. She completely stole my heart and quickly became my biggest inspiration. Every fabric I choose, every pattern I create and every new design is made with her in mind. She’s my quality tester, my adventure buddy, and the reason Miss Mila Co exists.

The name Miss Mila Co has a story of its own. Before I had Millie, Mila was the little girl’s name I’d always dreamed of using one day. After naming my dog Millie, I realised the two names were probably a little too similar! Instead of letting that special name go, I decided to give it a new purpose. Miss Mila Co became a way to honour a name I’d always loved while building something inspired by the dog who changed my life.

Every coat, bandana and accessory is lovingly handmade by me here in Australia, with comfort, quality and adventure at the heart of every stitch. My goal is simple: to create beautiful, practical pieces that dogs genuinely love wearing and that their owners are proud to put on them.
